Uplace launches tender groundworks
On January 20th, Uplace entered the final preparations of the construction of its innovative experience centre North of Brussels, when it launched the tender for the groundworks. Contractors have time to answer the tender until February 13th.
Bart Goedermans, Uplaces Chief Technical Officer: “We are talking about an excavation site of about 85,000 sqm in surface, to be excavated on average 4.25 meters deep. The majority of this dirt will be transported by water, on the nearby sea canal Brussels-Scheldt. Given the size of the project, this tender is aimed at the larger construction companies. For the further construction of the comple Uplace-project, we will work in different phases. Smaller companies may also submit an application to take parts of the project."
Uplace received a new planning permission at the end of December, meaning the innovative one-day-destination is now fully permitted again. It had been announced at that time that construction would start as soon as possible, so that Uplace can (finally) open the doors in 2019.
Uplace will be the largest construction site in the Benelux. A 95 meters high office tower, a parking garage with close to 6,000 parking spots, a theatre with 3,000 seats, a 180 keys boutique hotel with wellness, a cinema complex, a shopping mall with 270 experience stores and 50 innovative bars and restaurants. During the construction phase, more than 5,000 people will find a job on the site. Once the doors have opened, 3.250 new jobs will be created. Contact: email@example.com
