Uplace reinforces commercial department

  • Ignace Bultijnck (Inditex) and Fammeke Horions (Vastned) join the Uplace-team as resp. COO and International Leasing Director
  • They will jointly commercialise the project
  • COO Bram Thomas leaves Uplace after four successful years

Uplace, the innovative experience centre north of Brussels, Belgium, takes a new and important step in the project by hiring two new commercial experts. Ignace Bultijnck as COO and Fammeke Horions as International Leasing Director will take on the responsibility of renting out retail- and food and beverage space, and the selection of partners for the theatre, entertainment units, the office buildings and the hotel.

Ignace Bultijnck has a degree in business engineering and a cultural background as sound engineer, working as artistic co-ordinator at the Brussels Bozar. The last seven years he accumulated his retail- and real estate know-how with the Inditex Group. Starting as a Building Manager, he became Expansion and Real Estate Manager Belux in January 2014. He investigated (and found) real estate opportunities for all Inditex brands (Zara, Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Pull&Bear, Zara Home and Oysho), thus being responsible for 80 stores.

Fammeke Horions built her real estate experience as a lawyer, specialising in environmental and permitting law. She then moved to the listed real estate fund Vastned Retail Belgium as an Asset Manager. She managed the commercial, legal, financial and technical aspects of half of the funds’ real estate portfolio.

“These two absolute experts in the retail-real estate field give our commercialisation the impulse it needs in this last stretch”, says Jan Van Lancker, CEO of Uplace. “They will replace our current COO Bram Thomas. Bram exceeded expectations by signing more than half of the leases for the commercial units. We are very grateful for his commitment, and wish him all the best in his future challenges. But I’m convinced that Ignace and Fammeke will form a strong and complementary team. If all goes according to plan, we’ll be fully permitted again before the end of the year. This means that they’ll need all hands on deck to sign the last leases with innovative retailers, restaurants and trend-setting entertainment companies. And Ignace and Fammeke are the right people on the right place at the right time.”
