Hof van Saeys in Dendermonde

In the heart of Dendermonde, next to the historic Benedictine abbey, Uplace is working with the architectural firm OYO from Ghent to develop 109 residences, tailor-made for the inner city. This will give the site of the former abbey school a new future! Hof van Saeys focuses on comfortable, sustainable and modern homes, offering a wonderful view and connecting with the city.

There will be space for a few commercial businesses on the ground floor, which will round out the attractive commercial centre of Dendermonde. The entire site will be accessible thanks to a pleasant walking and cycling street, connecting the Oude Vest and the Dijkstraat. This is an open project that will create extra public space in the city!

BROEKLIN
in Machelen

BROEKLIN is an innovative workshop district where training, production, consumption and circularity meet. It is a concept from professor and architect Alexander D'Hooghe and his team at ORG Permanent Modernity. For the architecture, the team of architects chose large, modern city halls. These offer great flexibility for large and small production, manufacturing workshops, catering and training centres. Each hall provides a diverse offering, resulting in a dynamic ecosystem in and around the site.

The team of architects brought in landscape architect Bas Smets to help them with the ecological element. He developed a large ecological park, whereby the landscape continues throughout the large city halls. This means the green landscape takes up almost half of the site's total surface area.

Moreover, BROEKLIN will take a pioneering role in terms of circularity, thanks to a strong circular programme and through the use of degradable and recyclable building materials.

The large, modern city halls offer great flexibility for the SMB units, manufacturing workshops, training centres and cultural organisations.

Architectural powerhouse, ORG, under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Alexander D'Hooghe, has masterfully crafted the blueprint for this site, an ensemble that orbits around three contemporary city halls, each graced with distinctive rooftop structures that pay homage to the area's industrial heritage, reminiscent of its former factories and warehouses. These buildings stand as paragons of ecological mindfulness, adhering to the highest international standards in the utilization of recyclable, reusable, and sustainable construction materials, embracing a commitment to circularity.

Furthermore, the architectural skeleton has been ingeniously and flexibly conceived, offering Broeklin the capacity for spatial adaptability and an innate propensity to evolve in harmony with emerging needs. The site's self-sufficiency, deeply rooted in the principles of circularity, is paramount, with water, waste, and energy systems ingeniously engineered to close loops wherever possible. An underground transportation network ensures astute and efficient logistics, completing the seamless circularity of this visionary development.

In a verdant ode to nature, the acclaimed landscape architect, Bas Smets, has sculpted a symphony of greenery, rooted in the ethos of 'rewilding,' a philosophy that reveres nature's intrinsic vitality. Here, the project wears its environmental consciousness as a badge of honor, boasting a lush ecological park and an expansive green oasis spanning 36,700 square meters, complete with meandering cycling and pedestrian paths, as well as natural water retention facilities.

Belfius base camp for Club Bruges

Club Bruges called upon Uplace's expertise for the development of a professional home base for its players, assistants and staff. The smart, timeless and sustainable design of the training complex fully reflects the Club's values. The simple basic materials, such as concrete, wood and glass, refer to the Club's DNA: No Sweat, No Glory.

The base camp in Knokke-Heist provides an indoor artificial turf, a high-tech fitness room, 37 bedrooms, a press area and four training fields. Furthermore, the physical interaction between the sports staff and the administrative assistants at Club Bruges makes for efficient internal policy. Barely a year after the works commenced, the A-core at Club Bruges were among those to move in.
